The major concert hall, the Grand Théâtre, is home to the Québec Symphonic Orchestra, under the direction of Yoav Talmi, the Trident Theatre and the Québec Opera. Big name groups usually play in the fairground’s Colisée building.
Dinner theatre, cabarets and bands entertain at the two theatres in Le Capitole just outside the walls. Tiny Petit Champlain theatre in Lower Town features new and established singers.
Disco clubs Chez Dagobert and Chez Maurice inside Grand Allée’s huge stone mansions attract both locals and visitors. On St-Jean Street, drag shows and DJs attract gays to the Drague Cabaret Club. Rock bands resound at L’Arlequin.
Jazz enthusiasts head to L’Emprise club inside Upper Town’s Hotel Clarendon. Punk bands alternate with DJ nights at Le Kashmir. Chez Son Pierre presents French folk singers. DJs host Latino nights in between playing R&B, hip-hop and reggae for dancing at Fixion Latin Lounge.
